The annual week-long Arts for Arts event returns to Roulette to showcase both legendary and emerging stars in the free jazz and experimental communities. Vision Festival’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree is Roscoe Mitchell, a creative genius of the Chicago creative music scene, and a founding member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM). In over 60 years of performing, composing, and improvising, Mitchell has continued to push his own creative limits both in music and as a visual artist.
Vision Festival 2025 includes performances by Roscoe Mitchell, Space Ensemble, Miriam Parker, gabby fluke-mogul, Ellen Christi, Nicole Mitchell, Amirtha Kidambi, Ava Mendoza, Devin Brahja Waldman, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Pheeroan Aklaff, Oliver Lake, Mary Halvorson, David Murray, DoYeon Kim, Shamanic Principle, Gerry Hemmingway, Earl Howard, Marilyn Crispell, Rob Brown, and many more.
